BFG Gas (Blast Furnace Gas)
Blast Furnace Gas (BFG) is a by-product of ironmaking in a blast furnace.
Composition:
- Contains carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen (N₂), hydrogen (H₂), and water vapor (H₂O).
Uses:
- Fuel in steel mills, boilers, and power plants.
- Combined with natural gas or coke oven gas for combustion.
Safety & Environmental Concerns:
- Requires cleaning to remove particulates before use.
- Frequent boiler cleaning is necessary to prevent BFG deposits.
